The market value of online games in China is projected to rise steadily at a compound average growth rate (CAGR) of 23.65% from 2006 to 16.388 billion yuan (US$2.10 billion) in 2010.
MMORPGs (massively multi-player online role-playing games) have become the mainstream game type in China.
In light of the large potential market, several Taiwanese companies have stepped into the China market by offering self-developed online games for operation by representatives in China. Soft-World International and Gamania Digital Entertainment are two Taiwan-based companies that have been the most aggressive in entering the China market.
