AIR China Ltd signed an agreement to buy aircraft engines worth nearly US$345 million from CFM International SA, the Beijing-based carrier said.
The engines, which will be delivered between 2008 and 2012, are expected to be used for the airline's new order of 24 single-aisle A321 planes, the carrier said.
The nation's flagship carrier said earlier this month it plans to raise US$750 million in loans to fund its aircraft purchase plan.
Air China also agreed to form a joint venture with CFM International to deal in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhauls. CFM is a 50-50 joint venture between Snecma of France and General Electric Aviation of the United States.
