Infiniti's January volume jumps 36% on demand for locally built models

   Date:2016/02/17
Deliveries of Infiniti, Nissan Motor Co.'s luxury brand, surged 36 percent from a year earlier to 3,583 vehicles last month thanks to robust demand for its two locally assembled models.

Combined sales of the two models, the QX50 crossover and the long-wheelbase version of the Q50 sedan, reached 2,316 vehicles, representing 65 percent of Infiniti's volume, said Infiniti's China office.

The two models are produced at Nissan's joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp. in the central China city of Xiangyang.

The stretched Q50 sedan was Infiniti's top-selling model last month, with sales soaring 70 percent year on year to 1,551 vehicles.

Led by the two locally built models, Infiniti delivered 40,188 vehicles in China in 2015, up 34 percent from 2014.

To sustain local sales growth, Infiniti plans to expand its dealership network and introduce the all-wheel-drive QX30 small crossover in China this year.
