China’s BYD Brings Electric Buses to Market

BYD in China supplied 20 K7 pure electric buses to China Chengde Buses Group, the first order it fulfilled, on April 18, since which its alternative energy buses have been officially brought to market.
 
K7 electric buses, as the gut of new technologies of BYD, have been through lots of tests so as to guarantee quality and safety according to BYD.
 
BYD has begun to build an alternative energy bus base in Chengde city, nearby Beijing, since April in 2015. The base occupies an area of about one thousand acres. Process of constructing this base consists of three stages. After the first stage, BYD is expected to produce a 218.6 mu (1,326.9 acres) production base of 2,000 electric buses and parts a year. After all of three stages, annual production capacity is expected to reach 5,000 pure electric buses, making revenue of RMB10 billion yuan.
 
Let’s look back on how BYD and Chengde Buses Group have built up their cooperation relationship. As trial operation, 20 K9 pure electric buses launched by BYD were put into use in Chengde city in January of 2015 and successfully completed 160 kilometers of daily driving which covered 12 shifts of NO.7 bus line, winning high recognition from all walks of society in China. Given good reputation of BYD, Chengde Buses Group decided to order a total of 417 electric buses including K9, K8, K7 and other models from BYD in May of 2015, and these buses have already put into use now.
