B-class vehicles in April: KIA K4 and K5 fell to bottom

   Date:2016/05/19
Data reveals domestic car market has a sales volume of 908,730 units in April, decreasing 0.7%. B-class vehicles sold 153,441 units, decreasing 11.6%, which is a disaster area.

Joint-venture B-class vehicles were backbone of all brands several years ago, but price cut of luxury brands, along with limited purchasing in first-tier cities, encourage customers to consume more entry-level luxury vehicles.

Resulted by transformation trial, VW Magotan and Passat maintained their sales in April. Camry and Teana got sales above the average level, but Accord rose to top 3 B-class brands with a sales volume of 11,402 units.

Influenced by dealerships’ defection disturbance, Ford Mondeo experienced a sales decrease from 13,624 units in March to 7,128 units in April, dropping to 8th place from the second position. Mistra maintained its sales and position this month, but the low price and great discount may push the brand to a difficult position. La Crosse, Regal and Malibu all have a sales volume of no larger than 5,000 units, reflecting the brand dilemma of SAIC GM.

KIA K4 and K5 all perform badly in April, with K5 only selling several thousand units, revealing the fact of KIA’s difficult survival in B-class market. Dongfeng Peugeot and Citroen are facing the same situation as KIA, with each flagship model selling less than 1,000 units, a sharp contrast with their 5,000 units’ sales peak.
