   Date:2016/05/24
Ford Motor Co. launched sales of its second multipurpose vehicle, the Tourneo, with the aim of strengthening the company's foothold in China's fast-growing MPV market.

The five-door, seven-seat vehicle went on sale last week with a starting price of 176,900 yuan ($27,200).

The Tourneo is powered by Ford's 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline engine and is 4,976 mm long, 2,032 mm wide, 1,990 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,933 mm.

It is the third Ford-badged model produced at Ford's commercial vehicle joint venture with Jiangling Motor Corp., after the Transit van and the Everest SUV.

The Tourneo joins the S-Max, an MPV that is assembled at Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ford's passenger vehicle partnership in China.

Automakers have delivered 849,400 MPVs in China over the first four months of the year, an increase of 13 percent from the same period last year.

For the first four months, Ford and its two joint ventures sold 391,294 vehicles, up 7 percent.
