With the Launching of Tiggo 3, Chery Prepares for 5m units’ Target

The official launching of Chery Tiggo 3 on May 21st, with the price set between 68,900 to 92,900 RMB, includes six models of 1.6L displacement. As one of the most important models of Chery, Tiggo 3 keeps a steady performance since its launching. Data shows Tiggo 3 has a sales volume of 120,400 units last year, increasing 12.1%, inferior to Refine S3’s 292.5% increase of 196,800 units and Chana CS35’s 68.4% increase of 169,300 units. But the yearly sales volume of Tiggo series reaches 188,300 units in 2015, accounting for 40.5% of Chery’s total. “As the first SUV brand in China, Tiggo 3 is the fifth generation model under Chery Technology 2.0 product standard, and a total of 183 complete upgrading has been carried on.” Yin Tongyue, Board Chairman of Chery Auto said. “In the future, Tiggo series still holds the key power in promoting the brand sales.”
Chery is now concentrating on SUV products. Apart from Tiggo 3, Tiggo 3X and new compact SUV Tiggo 7 will be put into market in the second half of this year. Besides, the entry-level SUV Tiggo 1 is expected to be launched in 2017. A medium-size Tiggo 9 will also be launched.
But it still takes long for Chery to fight a way out. The competitors, including Chana, GWM, JAC, all develops very fast in the SUV market. Data shows that Chery SUV sells 193,800 units last year, decreasing 7.7%. Chana SUV sells 356,000 units, increasing 131.88%. JAC and GAC Trumpchi also increase 251.8% and 106.7% respectively.
