Audi AG says its China deliveries rose 5.5 percent year on year to 50,002 vehicles in May as the company enjoyed strong demand for the A3 compact sedan and Q3 compact crossover.
For the month, A3 sales rose nearly 15 percent while Q3 deliveries increased 29 percent.
In the first five months, Audi's China sales rose 5.8 percent to 239,600 vehicles.
Audi, China's top-selling luxury brand, expects to get a boost later this year when it introduces a redesigned version of the popular long-wheelbase A4 compact sedan.
Volkswagen's luxury brand still maintains a significant sales lead over rivals Mercedes-Benz and BMW AG.
But Mercedes has been on fire in the China market. Last month, Mercedes sales jumped 39 percent to 38,271 vehicles. BMW has not released China sales for the month.
