A-class vehicles in May: Arrizo 5 selling more than 10,000 units and self-owned brand market is shrinking

Compared with SUV and MPV models, self-owned brands have decreasing sales volume in A-class market and even car market. According to data from CAAM, sales volume of self-owned brands are decreasing 1.8 percentage points, and the accumulative market share in the previous five months is decreasing 2.7 percentage points.
 
In the third month after being launched into market, Arrizo 5 sells more than 10,000 units, increasing 35.5% in May and boosting Chery’s confidence greatly.
 
Car market embraces a slight growth in May. But Korean brands have unexpected performances, because Beijing Hyundai, KIA and other mainstream models face sales decrease to different degrees. Surprisingly, Beijing Hyundai Elantra’s sales increase 7,836 units in May.
 
Compared with SUV and MPV models, self-owned brands face consistently shrinking market shares in A-class vehicles and even car market. Geely Emgrand, Vision, Chana Eado, and BYD F3 face slight decreases.
 
Cars sell 921,400 units in May, increasing 1.77% with April and 1.47 with the same period of last year. Carola, Buick Excelle and Cruze all perform well. Santana and Elantra have large decreases. Verano sells 4,933 units in May, increasing nearly 50%. Excelle’s sales volume increases 6,564 units, increasing 27.6%. Cruze also has a 17% growth in May.
