Mazda sales rebound after 2-month slump

   Date:2016/07/19
Mazda Motor Corp.'s China sales staged a strong recovery in June after a two-month slump, with deliveries rising 16 percent year on year to 20,132 vehicles.

The gain was led by Mazda's joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co.

Sales at Changan Mazda -- which produces the Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5 -- jumped 37 percent from a year earlier to 14,064 vehicles, according to Mazda's China office.

But deliveries of Mazda's partnership with China FAW Group Corp., which builds the Mazda6 and Mazda8, dropped 15 percent to 6,068 vehicles.

Mazda did not disclose sales of individual models.

Due to weak demand in the previous two months, Mazda's China sales in the first half of the year edged up only 1 percent to 117,523 vehicles.
