Domestic recalling vehicles in the previous six months: Volkswagen and Toyota has top frequency, while General Motors has the greatest number

About 6m units’ vehicles are recalled in the first half of year, doubling of the same period of last year. Luxury brands, including Maserati, Aston Martin, Porsche, also recalled vehicles in the period. Maserati recalled two times covering 40,800 units’ vehicles, while Porsche recalled once covering 108,900 units’ vehicles.
 
The recalling frequencies are larger in 2016, with 69 announcements concerning more than 30 brands are published in the first half of year, covering 5,998,000 units. However, the recalling number is 5,548,500 units in 2015 and 2,580,000 units in the first half of 2015.
 
Volkswagen and Toyota rank top 2 in terms of recalling frequency, with the number of 7. General Motors recalls the most vehicles, with the recalling number of 2,250,000 units and accounting for 36.8% of the market, second by Toyota and Volkswagen. General Motors recall for three times, the largest of which comprising 2,161,000 units’ vehicles. By contrast, the largest recall in 2015 was performed by GAC Honda, comprising 41.3 units’ vehicles.
 
It’s noticed that 16 recalls are resulted by air bag problems, concerning brands including Mazda, Toyota, Audi, Honda, Mitsubishi, Lexus, BMW, and Infiniti. Although most recalls are launched by Japanese, American, German joint-venture companies, self-owned domestic brands are also facing recalling problems. GWM, Geely and Jiangling Motors together recall 10,760 units vehicles in the first half of year, accounting for 0.2% of the total.
