Waterway constructed to World Expo

   Date:2007/04/26

In 2010, the Shanghai World Expo site will be accessible not only by road, but also by water. The city's municipal government is planning a water traffic system on the Huangpu River to share the passenger load going to the Expo area.

Nine water gates will be set up along the 14-kilometer waterway, including six gates for boarding and three for disembarking.

In addition, authorities plan to use current ports and ferries to construct the planned traffic system. More than 40 boats will run on the river to serve the World Expo.
