The State Food and Drug Administration, or the SFDA, says all medics should stop using the Extracorporeal Circulation Pipe on artificial heart-lung machines. The equipment is produced by the Xijing Medical Device Company.

The SFDA has recently received reports of several cases of abnormal liver function in patients with congenital heart disease. All the patients from Guangdong Province had undergone surgery using the Xijian Medicare brand ECC pipe. The SFDA strongly suspects the abnormal reactions are related to the ECC pipe.

The Ministry of Health has also urged all medical institutions to stop using the brand and treat patients who have experienced abnormal reactions.
