Plans to buy 2 generators

   Date:2007/05/16

CHINA Yangtze Power Co, operator of the world's biggest hydropower project, said it plans to buy two generators from its parent for 10.4 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion).

The company plans to buy the hydropower generators from China Three Gorges Corp, adding 1.4 million kilowatts of installed capacity, Beijing-based Yangtze Power said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday. Yangtze Power had a total installed capacity of 12.8 million kilowatts at the end of last year, according to its annual report.

The purchase will be financed mainly with funds raised from selling call warrants to investors, Bloomberg News reported. Call warrants give investors options to buy the company's shares.
