China has the potential to explore uranium resources, said Wang Yiren, an official with the Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense, on May 30.
Uranium deposits are mainly distributed in two uranium ore belts. One is the Europe and Asia belt, and the other is the Pacific Rim. According to Wang, both the two belts go through China, so the country has a good geological background in exploring uranium resources.
China will continue to find more uranium mines in future, Wang added, but there is still no final deal in joining in the world fuel reserves plan.
