TIDE Time Group, owner of China Sun TV, launched a super high definition screen in Shanghai yesterday, boasting much higher resolution than Japanese and South Korean-made panels.

Primarily targeting advertising firms as buyers, the liquefied crystal flat screen is expected to bring 10 billion yuan sales next year, said Chen Ping, chairman of Hong Kong-based Tide Time.

The screen, according to Chen, has a resolution four times the common high definition TV screens on the market, and size from 22 inches to 82 inches.

The screens have already been applied in several airport control centers and subways in London, and Tide Time has started to supply the screens to Focus Media, China's biggest outdoor ads screen network operator which is replacing its elevator posters with the digital screens. The contracted order is worth five billion yuan (US$657 million).

Chen said the company plans to launch the screens for residential use by adding TV functions.
