CHINA yesterday approved the construction of the nation's first cross-border high-voltage power grid to bring electricity from Russia.

State Grid Corp of China will build 5,000 kilometers of power grid with capacity of 500 kilovolts along the border of the two countries, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said. The project will boost power supply from Russia to China by sixfold, the Shanghai Securities News said yesterday.
