China is aiming to raise the ratioof renewable energy usage in the country's total energy consumption to 15 percent by 2020, in bid to reduce greenhouse gasemissions and pursue sustained economic growth, a senior official said here on Tuesday.
The plan would cost China two trillion yuan (266.7 billion U.S.dollars) over the next 13 years, said Chen Deming, vice minister in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
In 2005, renewable resources usage made up 7.5 percent of the country's total energy consumption of 2.21 billion tons of standard coal equivalent.
