China, the world's biggest soybean consumer, may harvest less of the crop this year than expected a month earlier after a drought cut yields.

Output may be 14.4 million metric tons, down from the 14.8-million-ton forecast on August 8, the China National Grain and Oils Information Center said in a statement. The projected output is 9.8 percent less than last year.
