According to the data coming from China Customs, in the first half of 2007, the export of chemical finished drugs keeped a fast growth, and total export volume of chemical finished drugs was 181,900 tons, up 61.94% year on year; total export value was 344 million dollars, up 38.37% year on year. It represented the quantity went up, the price down.
The trend that China will become an important processing base of global pharmaceutical industry is getting more and more obvious. Of the export statistic, the share of common trade decreased slightly, the total share of processing with imported materials and processing with customer's materials was 30.5% (almostly one three).
Huge market potential and low cost anvantage have attracted many multinational pharmaceutical enterprise to invest money to set up join ventures (JVs) or wholly foreign owned enterprises (WFOE). In the first half of 2007, there were 829 enterprises exporting chemical finished drugs; of which 4 join ventures or WFOEs listed in top 10 export enterprises, and Tianjin Taketa Drugs Co., Ltd. and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Ltd. took up first place and second place respectively. The destination countries for the products of JVs and WFOEs mostly were developed countries, and The destination countries for domestic products mostly were developing countries.
