DATANG International Power Generation Co, the biggest Chinese mainland electricity producer listed in Hong Kong, increased generation 32 percent in the first nine months of the year to meet surging demand. Output rose to 86.6 billion kilowatt-hours during the period, the Beijing-based company said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday.

Chinese power producers are expanding to supply an economy that grew 12 percent in the second quarter, the fastest pace in 12 years. China's energy demand is forecast to rise about four percent annually through 2010.
