Soft-World International, the largest developer/operator of online games in Taiwan, has obtained exclusive rights to operate in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, Chinese Paladin Online, a new online game developed by Taiwan-based Softstar Entertainment, according to a joint announcement by the companies.
Softstar used to operate self-developed online games in Taiwan but by the end of 2006 started to focus on R&D and generating revenue from licensing, the company pointed out.
Soft-World will have its subsidiary Game Flier International operate Chinese Paladin Online, with a launch in Taiwan tentatively scheduled for July 2008, Soft-World indicated. According to industry sources, the licensing charge for the game is about US$1.0 million.
Softstar has released four self-developed online games through licensed agents in 22 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia and countries in Europe, the company pointed out.
