In accordance with Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, the State Food and Drug Administration established the ninth China Pharmacopoeia Committee to compile the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (2010 Edition) and formulate and revise the National Drug Standards. The ninth China Pharmacopoeia Committee, with a total of 321 members, is composed of an executive board and 25 subcommittees. With the setting up of this committee, the compilation of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010 Edition) was started.
The ninth China Pharmacopoeia Committee consists of experts and scholars in such fields as clinic, scientific research, teaching, manufacturing, inspection, and management closely related to the work on drug standards, including 24 academicians, with average age of 52.7.
"The compilation of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2010 Edition) shall further expand the range of inclusion, cover all the varieties that were indicated in the National Essential Drugs List, adopt new technologies, improve the standards for high-risk varieties, standardize the styles and contents of the Volumes 1, 2, and 3 of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and intensify the compilation and publishing of Supplements to the Pharmacopoeia," said Mr Shao Mingli, Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner of SFDA.
