PETROCHINA Co, the nation's largest oil producer, plans to start building the country's second West-East natural gas pipeline by the end of this month, a company official said.

The pipeline will cost 140 billion yuan (US$19 billion), Hou Chuangye, vice general manager of PetroChina's natural gas and pipeline unit, said at a conference in Shenzhen in southern China yesterday.
