China Sunergy Co., Ltd. (China Sunergy) is a holding company. The Company conducts substantially all of its operations through its wholly owned subsidiary, China Sunergy (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. (Sunergy Nanjing). It designs, develops, manufactures and sells solar cells. The Company produces both monocrystalline and multi-crystalline silicon solar cells. In addition to standard P-type solar cells and HP solar cells, it also produces selective emitter cells, an improved version of the P-type solar cells. The Company manufactures its solar cells from silicon wafers utilizing crystalline silicon solar cell technology to convert sunlight directly into electricity through a process known as the photovoltaic effect. It sells its solar cell products to Chinese and overseas module manufacturers and system integrators, who assemble its solar cells into solar modules and solar power systems for use in various markets.
