SouthGobi Resources Ltd., formerly SouthGobi Energy Resources Ltd., is an integrated coal mining, development and exploration company. The Company focuses on developing and operating coal mining projects. It owns coal projects in Mongolia. Its projects include Ovoot Tolgoi Mine, and two development projects, such as the Soumber Deposit, and the Ovoot Tolgoi Underground Deposit. The Ovoot Tolgoi Complex comprises the Ovoot Tolgoi Mine together with the Ovoot Tolgoi Underground Deposit. The Ovoot Tolgoi Mine located approximately 40 kilometers from the China-Mongolia border, is the Company鈥檚 flagship producing asset. The Soumber Deposit consists of the Soumber and Biluut Fields and is located approximately 20 kilometers to the east of the Ovoot Tolgoi Mine. The Company owns 19.9% interest in Aspire Mining Limited (Aspire). Aspire鈥檚 primary focus is its ownership of nine mineral exploration licenses in Mongolia. On December 23, 2010, the Company acquired 19.9% interest in Aspire.

SouthGobi Resources is a premium coal production and development company, with strategically located coal assets - closest coal to China -focused on exploration and development of its Permian-age metallurgical and thermal coal deposits in Mongolia's South Gobi Region to supply a wide range of coal products to markets in Asia.

The company's flagship coal mine, Ovoot Tolgoi, is selling coal to customers in China - the largest consumer of coal in the world. Ovoot Tolgoi is located in southern Mongolia, approximately 40 kilometres north of the Mongolia/China border.

SouthGobi owns three significant coal projects in Mongolia: a producing mine, the Ovoot Tolgoi Mine; and two development projects, the Soumber Deposit and the Ovoot Tolgoi Underground Deposit. In addition, SouthGobi holds mineral exploration licences in Mongolia.
