Bridgestone said Monday it plans to increase the production capacity of its radial passenger tire plant in Wuxi, China's Jiangsu province, by more than a third to 16,300 tires/d by May 2012.
The company will invest about Yuan 563 million ($87.6 million) to boost the plant's capacity which currently stands at 12,200 tires/d.
Bridgestone said the plant expansion was part of the group's strategy to meet growing demand for radial passenger tires in China.
The plant, which is located on a 290,000 sq m site, is operated by the company's wholly owned subsidiary, Bridgestone (Wuxi) Tire.
