August 29 – Shanghai Metersbonwe Fashion and Accessories (002269) filed it will soon procure 10 percent of its products for the spring and summer seasons from overseas markets, thereby improving supply chain management, reports yicai.com.

At present, the firm has an inventory worth three billion yuan, well over its ideal two billion yuan worth. Company chairman Zhou Chengjian predicts believes Metersbonwe can close the gap in the first half of 2012.

The firm realized a 100-percent year-on-year growth in sales in outlets at the end of 2010, and its executive team anticipated a similar growth in 2011. However, Metersbonwe was short-handed and allocated some orders to other processing firms, leading to greater inventory.

Zhou added that the clothing retailer will not build a new factory to deal with the inventory issue but will instead improve supply chain management, namely global procurement. It takes only five to 10 days to bring products from the factory floor to consumers if management is well placed, he added.

The average Metersbonwe employee salary in Zhejiang province, were the company distributes orders, have jumped 30 percent each year in recent years.
