CDC eCommerce Cloud Platform Delivers Multichannel Sales Offerings to Help Leading Midwest Retailer Expand the Market for its Farm and Home Products

CDC Software Corporation, an enterprise software provider of on-premise and cloud deployments, announced recently that Orscheln Farm & Home, a leading Midwest retailer, is using CDC eCommerce as its storefront cloud platform to operate its first online commerce business that will help expand the market for its farm and home products and related supplies.

Founded in 1960 by W.C. Orscheln, this family-owned business is a leading Midwestern retailer serving rural and suburban customers at more than 150 retail store locations. Stores are located in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. The Moberly, Missouri-based company offers livestock feed, pet food and animal health supplies, hardware, plumbing, electrical, automotive, toys, housewares, clothing and lawn and garden supplies.

CDC Software's latest hybrid customer, Orscheln Farm & Home, is using CDC Supply Chain, a supply chain, order management and warehouse management system, to manage the fulfillment side of its business. While the company has steadily grown over the years, Orscheln believed it could increase revenues with the addition of an online business. Orscheln chose CDC eCommerce for its breadth of multi-channel features and its multi-tenant software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, as well as the already established relationship it enjoyed with CDC Software through the CDC Supply Chain solution.

"CDC eCommerce offered us all the key features of an advanced multi-channel online storefront without the enormous costs and IT resources typically required if we had developed this ourselves," said Tony Corradi, CIO at Orscheln Farm & Home. Tony Corradi further noted that "This cloud eCommerce platform enables us to offer multi-channel retailing capabilities in our commerce strategy. It also helps us build new customer relationships, by increasing the visibility of our brand online and expanding our selling opportunities beyond the Midwest. With our new online business, we are not only offering our customers multi-channel shopping, but also facilitating their buying experience, all of which impacts offline sales. For instance, our online store offers customers the capability of being able to view product inventory at the store level."

Corradi concluded, "Our eCommerce store truly reflects the Orscheln family's goals, which the company has followed since the last century: ‘To be mindful of the people we serve, to consider their needs, to give the best we have to offer, and to create an environment that encourages innovation and individual growth.' We take pride in upholding those family tenets through the years and in promoting our latest innovation for our customers through our new eCommerce store."

"We are delighted about the successful CDC eCommerce implementation at our hybrid customer, Orscheln Farm & Home," said Bruce Cameron, president of CDC Software. "This is another great example of the cross-selling opportunities within our cloud and our on-premise solutions portfolio, which in this case included our cloud eCommerce solution and our on-premise warehouse management system. Orscheln Farm & Home's integration of CDC eCommerce and CDC Supply Chain illustrates the strong synergies and compelling benefits of our cloud and on-premise solutions."

CDC eCommerce is unique as an on demand eCommerce platform with integrated order management capabilities, online marketplace and dynamic pricing support, full front-end and back-end capabilities such as merchandising and promotions, inventory, anti-fraud and returns management, community private-sale shops, multi-language/currency, and an industry-leading "implementation time." The solution helps online retailers and manufacturers maximize customer acquisition, conversion, and retention.

With CDC eCommerce's ability to be integrated with the CDC Supply Chain solution, CDC Software believes it is at the forefront of the enterprise market by offering solutions that combine eCommerce sales origination with complete supply chain management - from suppliers, purchase orders, warehouse and distribution center management to sophisticated order routing algorithms that provide optimized-fulfillment logic for products sent to the end consumer. CDC eCommerce is one of the only on demand eCommerce platforms that supports such complete order handling.
