Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 21) - The production version of SAIC's new own brand car, the Roewe 750 Hybrid, made its market debut in Shanghai yesterday, the Beijing Times reported. Several orders have already been placed for the sedan, which will be priced at 236,800 yuan ($37,099).
The 750 Hybrid (pictured) is built on the 750 1.8T platform and makes use of high-pressure hybrid engine technology. The car has a fuel economy of only 7.5 liters per 100 km driven, saving more than 20 percent in fuel efficiency. The car comes with a service warranty for three years or up to 80,000 km, while the battery is insured for five years or 100,000 km. According to SAIC, if the battery registers any fault within that time period, the manufacturer will offer free replacement.
Chen Zhixin, SAIC's executive vice president, boasts that the 750 Hybrid will help further diversify the manufacturer's lineup, as well as aiding in developing its new energy vehicle business. Mr. Chen also added that the 550 plug-in hybrid, alongside SAIC's own brand pure electric, will be coming to market next year.
