On November 15-16, 2011, the 2nd International Forum on Rapid Drug Testing & 3rd China-US Joint Symposium on Pharmaceutical Analytical Technology & Compendial Methods, jointly organized by the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control of China and the United States Pharmacopeia and undertaken by Zhejiang Provincial Institute for Drug Quality Control, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. About 500 representatives from related overseas organizations, domestic drug testing institutes and drug manufacturing enterprises attended the forum.

Li Yunlong, Director of China’s National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, and Dr. Roger L. Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the United States Pharmacopeia, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. 

At the forum, experts and scholars from China, the USA and EU had discussions on issues of common interest, such as the development trend of rapid drug testing technologies, laboratory quality management, and the development, manufacturing and application of standard substances. The experts shared their experience accumulated from research and application of drug testing technologies, and answered the questions of the others on the problems they had encountered in their practice.
