China Power New Energy Development Company Limited (HKG:0735) announced that the total power generated for the year 2011 was 3.63 million MWh, representing a decrease of 2.9% year-on-year. The decrease of power generation was mainly attributable to the unusual drought in history which affected the hydro power plants of the Group.

Benefiting from the commercial operation of the new wind power projects, total power generation of the wind power segment in the year ended 31 December 2011 reached 1.10 million MWh, representing an increase of 275.5% over the previous year.

Total power generation of the hydro power segment dropped 43.2% to 950,000 MWh in 2011 due to the unusual drought in history. Total power generation of the natural gas power segment and waste-to-energy segment for 2011 reached 1.02 million MWh and 537,000 MWh, representing a decrease of 12.7% and 7% over the previous year, respectively.
