Quanta Computer has set a goal of shipping three million LTE (Long Term Evolution) devices in 2012, including wireless modules, mobile data cards, routers, hot spots and tablet PCs, according to industry sources.

Quanta supplies LTE devices for mobile telecom carriers mainly in the Middle East, Brazil and Japan on an ODM basis, with LTE FDD (frequency division duplexing) models accounting for 60% of the shipment volume and TD (time division)-LTE models for 40%, the sources indicated.

Quanta will begin shipments of LTE-enabled smartphones in September 2012 and second-generation LTE-enabled tablet PCs at the end of that year, the sources said, adding Quanta aims at a 15% global market share for all types of LTE terminal devices except smartphones.
