After more than a month of tribulations with parent company Changan, Changhe Automobile has officially released a list of its new managerial staff, China Business News reported today. With the staff list announced, work at the manufacturer should be resuming back to normal.
Earlier this week, Changan recommended Tong Zhengrong (pictured) take up the post of general manager. Mr. Tong has previously worked as Changhe deputy general manager and head of Changhe Suzuki's sales division. Mr. Tong will be assisted by two deputy general managers: Wu Jijun and Xiang Lianchao.
In the past month, all of Changhe's Changan-appointed managerial staff left the manufacturer as production disputes between the two companies continued to escalate. After long discussions, Changan and the municipal government of Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, where Changhe is based, announced that the new staff would come from inside the manufacturer. Changan has lived up to that promise, with Mr. Tong, Mr. Wu and Mr. Xiang all having risen up through Changhe. Their presence should ensure that Changhe will have a degree of autonomy inside the Changan family.
Whether former staff, including Deputy General Manager Zhou Jiazheng and Sales Division Director Chai Wei, will still remain in Changhe or be forced to leave is still unclear. One employee from Changhe was quoted as remarking, "they are already not here anymore," implying that they did not attend the manufacturer's latest internal meeting.
Changhe recovered from its deficit of 738 million yuan ($111.97m) in 2010 to achieve a profit of 1.18 million yuan ($186,443) last year. The manufacturer expects to turn a profit of at least 100 million yuan ($15.8m) this year, and has set a sales target of 200,000 vehicles.
