Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 21) - The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced earlier this week that it has requested Renault to issue a recall of some of its Mégane II compacts and Scénic II crossovers, Caijing reported today. The vehicles are currently available in China as imported models.
The screws in the airbags of the Mégane II (pictured above) are reportedly fastened improperly, which may prevent the airbags from deploying correctly. According to reports, the risk of such a malfunction is relatively high. The Scénic II (pictured below), meanwhile, has a flaw in which the dashboard will display only a black screen, making it impossible to view vital driving information.
AQSIQ made the request in accordance with the Law on Import and Export Commodity Inspection and similar policies. In its request, AQSIQ pushes Renault to supply temporary measures to ensure usability of its models. Owners should contact their Renault-authorized dealer to ensure the problems are dealt with as soon as possible. If the vehicles experience any problems related to the above flaws, a report should be submitted to the local Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. For their part, the bureaus should monitor Renault dealers to ensure that any potential complaints are dealt with smoothly.
