China Unicom, the country's second largest telecommunications operator, plans a 100 billion yuan capital expenditure in 3G expansion and broadband construction in 2012, nearly twice than China Telecom's 54 billion of estimated capital expenditure this year, sources from China Unicom said.
The huge capital expenditure will be used for constructing new base stations in cities and nationwide due to the data traffic surge from 3G subscribers.
C114 learnt the lastest huge expenditures of China Unicom was in 2009 for the first time of 3G network construction.
Officials said the company has no financial pressure with net cash, income and credit.
