Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 29) - The brand new Audi A6L made its market debut earlier this week in Guangdong's capital of Guangzhou, auto.sina.com.cn reported today. The A6L comes in ten different versions, with manufacturer suggested prices ranging from 383,000 yuan to 742,600 yuan ($60,628-$117,551).
Compared with the old A6L, the new car (pictured) is designed to look more fashionable and active. The A6L boasts the larger front grille design and more aggressive headlights trademark of newer Audis. The rear, meanwhile, is reminiscent of the A8L. The Chinese A6L is 100 mm longer and has a 100 mm longer wheelbase than the German version. The car measures 5.02 m long, 1.87 m wide and 1.46 m tall. Despite the new A6L boasting a wheelbase 67 mm longer than its predecessor, it is still not in the same league as the BMW 5 Series Li and long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which both have wheelbases of over 3 m. That said, the A6L's interior space seems to be on par with rivals in the class.
The Chinese A6L comes with 2.0 L TFSI, 2.5 L FSI, 2.8 L FSI and 3.0 L TFSI engine options. The smallest engine has a maximum output of 132 kW and can produce up to 320 Nm of torque, offering a significant increase in performance from the old A6L's 2.0 L engine option. The new 2.0 L engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or Multitronic CVT. The 2.5 L FSI option replaces the old 2.4 L version, and is also mated to the Multitronic CVT. The 2.5 L engine boasts fuel efficiency figures of 7.5 L for ever 100 km driven, an improvement from the old 2.4 L engine's 8.8 L per 100 km.
