Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 9) - After 15 months of hard work, Beijing Hyundai's third production site has finally entered the testing phase, the Guangzhou Daily reported today. The new site, which is scheduled to go into operation by the end of this year, will help raise the joint venture's production capability to one million vehicles. The site will be a great boon to Beijing Hyundai, which has constantly struggled with production limitations.
Upon completion, the site will be Hyundai's largest stand alone factory worldwide. It will boast an annual production capability of 400,000 automobiles and 400,000 engines. According to Li Bin, head of the team responsible for construction, the site will possess state of the art assembly and testing equipment. According to estimations, Beijing Hyundai's average manufacturing time per vehicle will reportedly decrease to 16.5 hours after the site begins operation. Beijing Hyundai hopes that the site will help push its models to the forefront of the China Automobile Customer Satisfaction Index and J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study.
