Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 12) - The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, China's quality watchdog, has officially begun collecting feedback from Volkswagen owners regarding problems with the manufacturer's DSG gearboxes, Xinhua reported today. The user feedback will be used alongside expert research to further analyze the severity of the problem.
AQSIQ has conducted an intensive investigation of near 1,000 VWs. Most of the owners reported issues, with complaints of spontaneous vibrations and noises when using the gearbox being commonplace. There were also incidents of the engine not functioning properly or the vehicle's drive system shutting off entirely.
Last month, AQSIQ's Defective Products Management Center sent a written notification to the German manufacturer, requesting them to resolve any issues with the gearbox as promptly as possible. If AQSIQ finds that the problems do indeed pose a safety risk, something VW has so far denied, they will force the manufacturer to issue a through vehicle recall, in adherence with national policies.
