China Q1 invest CNY 9.1 billion in 3G network construction

The three domestic major operators, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom totally have invested 9.1 billion yuan in 3G network construction in the first quarter of this year, much more bleak compared with hundreds of billions years ago, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
 
The three telecom operators have cumulatively completed 697,000 units 3G base stations (including indoors) by the end of April this year, of which, China Mobile has 211,000 units, China Telecom has 218,000 units and China Unicom has 268,000 units; Meanwhile, cumulative investment in 3G network construction has reached 455.6 billion yuan by the end of last year.
 
However, the returns is slower than expected, and the operators have to slow down the pace of network construction and gradually decline the investment.
 
The data also showed that China Mobile had invested 5.8 billion yuan in TD network construction in the first quarter of this year and completed TD base stations to a total number of 227,000 units, which means the investment in TD network accounted for 63.7% of the entire in 3G network in the first quarter of this year.
