Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 4) - Geely Automobile's exports last month exceeded 10,000 units, Caijing reported today. According to CEO Zhang Lin, Geely's exports in the first six months of the year totaled 80,000 units, doubling from 2011 and making it China's second largest automobile exporter. As growth in the domestic market continues to fall and new policies limiting vehicle purchases come into effect, Geely and other Chinese manufacturers have begun eyeing at overseas markets to bolster their sales.

According to Geely officials, the manufacturer's high-end Emgrand brand is its best seller overseas. Combined sales of the EC7 (pictured) and EC8 last month totaled 4,600 units, making up over a third of the manufacturer's foreign sales. Mr. Zhang confirmed the manufacturer's intent to release even more models overseas over the next three years.

Vice President Yang Xueliang added that the manufacturer will construct new knockdown factories across the world, with its Egyptian site scheduled to begin operation next month. Exports are anticipated to account for half of Geely's total sales volume in 2015.

Chinese own brand manufacturers such as Geely have been faced with a much less welcoming market than in the previous years. According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, own brand manufacturers have continuously been losing market share since 2010. Increasing exports has been one of the primary ways for own brands to overcome financial difficulties.
