China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) president Li Yue stated recently that the operator will resolve to reform its compensation system, implementing 100% quantifiable performance-based compensation coverage throughout the company's work units, including dedicated subsidiaries and all first-line employees, within the next two to three years.
"Quantifiable performance-based compensation" is also known as piece rate wages. As implemented at China Mobile, the piece rate wage system will serve to create a mechanism tying business and service performance for the operator's services to wage-incentives.
