At a recent conference in Guangdong, China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) mobile internet base announced over 20 cooperation policies involving China Mobile's six major product lines: Mobile Market ("MM") app store, mobile instant messaging software Fetion, SNS platform "Fetion Tongchuang," mobile microblogging platform, 139 mobile e-mail, and China Mobile's Wireless City. As part of the new cooperation agreements, China Mobile will:
1. Set up exclusive stores under the MM brand for developers of boutique applications in MM;
2. Offer flexible methods for billing on virtual items and other content within applications;
3. Provide opportunities for certain premium MM applications to use other channels to promote products to consumers;
4. Bring together advertising agencies and advertisers as well as application providers for cooperation on advertising ventures.
At the Guangdong conference, over 200 domestic and international enterprises linked up on approximately 200 different projects.
The China Mobile Internet Base is one of China Mobile's nine vertical bases. Over the past two years, registered users of China Mobile's mobile internet service have grown to exceed 400 mln, with active users at 170 mln.
