China to limit nonferrous metals production by '15

China will limit production of 10 kinds of non-ferrous metals to a combined annual output of about 41 million tons by 2015, the China Securities Journal reported, citing Shang Fushan, vice chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.

Annual 'apparent' consumption of copper, lead, zinc and aluminum may be 43.8 million tons by 2015, the newspaper reported, citing the nonferrous metals association. Consumptin of copper may be 8.3 million tons, the newspaper reported. Lead consumption may be 5 million tons, zinc may be 6.5 million tons and aluminum may be 24 million tons, the newspaper reported.

The nation also plans to phase out outdated production capacity, the Beijing-based newspaper reported.
