   Date:2006/12/31

China-based distributors have cut prices for 40- and 42-inch LCD TVs in the China market as a long holiday in early October in China approaches.

China-based Suning recently offered 42-inch LCD TVs, including the Hisense, Haier, Skyworth, Changhong, and Konka brands, for between 9,000-10,000 yuan (US$1,127-1,252) while distributor Gome also priced the 40-inch LCD TVs of Hisense, Skyworth, and Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics (Xoceco) at 8,000 yuan,.

Prices for 40- and 42-inch LCD TVs in China are the lowest worldwide, research firm DisplaySearch pointed out, adding that China-based TV brands are more familiar with local distributors and are able to offer competitive prices compared to prices from international vendors.

The sales volume for LCD TVs in China totaled 1.5 million for the first half of 2006 with the top six brands in descending order being Hisense, Changhong, Konka, Xoceco, TCL and Skyworth. Sales in the China market are expected to reach 4.5 million units for the whole year.
