Tourism accord will boost Chinese visitors to UAE

   Date:2006/12/31
The UAE and China are to sign an agreement in the next two weeks that will help attract more Chinese visitors to the country.

Approved Destination Status (ADS) is a tourism deal between Beijing and a foreign country which allows Chinese citizens to take holidays to that destination.

Emirates launched its services first service to Beijing on September 1. It is hoped the agreement will help boost seat numbers on the route, which currently averages around 60 per cent capacity.

The agreement will allow Chinese citizens to travel to the UAE without few hassles.

This will help a larger number of Chinese tourists to travel to the UAE as trade, commerce and tourism between the two countries begin to show strong growth.

China is set to become the single largest source of holidaymakers for many of the world's top tourism destinations. Between 1995 and 2003, the number of outbound visits from China increased from 4 million to 20 million, and this number is expected to increase year on year.

Almost all major countries have signed this important agreement with China, including the UK, US and Australia.

Airline officials say this will help bilateral trade and tourism between the UAE and China one of the country's top trading partners.
