Around 41 million people are expected to travel around the country from September 28 to October 7, which is 2.56 million more than last year. The busiest day will likely be the first day of October, with more than 4.5 million passengers, equal to that during the Spring Festival.
The heaviest passenger flows will be on routes between big cities and cities with domestic hot spots.
The popular cities will likely include Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Dalian and Kunming. The hot spots will likely be Taishan Mountain in Shandong Province, Huangshang Mountain in Anhui Province, Wuyishan Mountain in Fujian and Jinggangshan in Jiangxi.
Passenger numbers may increase further with this year's lunar Mid-Autumn Festival on October 6.
