Samsung Electronics recently dropped prices for 18x DVD burners in China 14.5% to 299 yuan (US$37), down from 350 yuan, in order to increase market share.

Samsung began volume production of 18x DVD burners in the second quarter while the products officially hit the China market in August. The company lowered prices for the segment to 350 yuan last month, down from 500 yuan.

With the price cut, the prices for 18x DVD burner from Samsung is now similar to that for 16x DVD burners.
