Despite a recent report indicated that twelve leading TV makers, including Philips, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display (FHP), Sharp, Panasonic, Hisense, TCL, Changhong, Skyworth, Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics (Xoceco) and Haier, will give up the CRT TV market in China in 2007, Dexuan Guo, deputy general manager of Changhong, a China-based home appliance maker, recently stressed that CRT TVs will still be the mainstream segment in the China TV market for 5-10 years.

Currently, sales of flat panel TVs in the China market are less than one tenth of overall CRT TV sales volume.

Guo also said that the market for PDP (plasma display panel) TVs in China is on the decline, adding that Changhong will not abandon any kind of display technologies in the TV market.
