D-Link extends from hardware to cloud services

   Date:2011/08/29

D-Link, a Taiwan-based vendor of networking/communication devices, has extended its business operation from hardware sale to offering cloud computing-based application services for users of its hardware products, with five cloud computing platforms having been established in Taiwan, Shanghai, Singapore, the US and Japan, company CFO AP Chen revealed on August 26.

Of D-Link's revenues for the first half of 2011, 61% came from Asia Pacific and emerging markets, 22% from Europe and 17% from North America. In terms of product line, 40% came from wireless devices, 30% from switches, and 10% from digital home devices. There is large room for sales growth in emerging markets, especially in India, China, Russia and Brazil, Chen said.

For third-quarter, D-Link expects revenues to increase slightly with gross margin remaining unchanged, Chen indicated.
